Why do we not use bleach or high pressure to clean wood?
Sodium Hyproclorite, (aka bleach) the main chemical that professional pressure cleaning companies use to clean most all surfaces, is designed to kill organic growth and material. Wood is organic, so using bleach on wood will destroy the fibers within the wood, cleaning any algae or mold, but also resulting in a dull, grey appearance in the wood. High pressure will also destroy the fibers in the wood, causing splintering and gouging in the wood.
